Sidepipe Caution sign on Wind Wing

After looking at several hundred/thousand of the pictures on this forum, I can't remember where I saw this one. Someone has a stick on/self adhering sign on their wind wind stating that exhaust pipes are hot be careful. If anyone has seen this and knows who it was could you let me know. I am curious where they came from, custom made or found them in a store? I think they are a great idea and would like to get some.

I dont remember seeing one on the wind wing, but on the door jamb/sill. Cobra valley (not sure of the link, but its most likely www.cobravalley.com) have the door sill stickers, and they make custom ones too, so perhaps they may be able to help. There was a post where someone asked where to get the door sill sticker a few weeks ago, and somebody replied with that link.

I printed up the following on standard 8.5X11 paper and had it laminated at Kinkos. Total cost about 75 cents. I just put it on the windshield under the wipers when I park.

The problem is the smell that permeates the air as they lean over to read the signs on the windshield :)

Who would be at fault if somebody burn themselves from a parked cobra?

True story.

I was pulled up by a Police officer requiring me to give him a breath sample for excess of .05% alcohol - we have this in Australia.

The officer took the sample and stood next to the Cobra briefly talking about the car. He was a pretty good type of guy.

As I drove off, I noticed that his navy trouser/pants had two large brown burns across the bottom of them. He had been standing against the side pipes as he talked..

I have seen a small rod welded stratigically along the side of the pipes holding silly peoples legs off the hotter section.

Signs can be made at any sign writer in vinyl.

The one I am looking for is like the ones they use for oil changes that are stuck to your windshield. It was clear plastic except for the wording. I liked it because it could be left on all the times and didn't take away from the appearance of the car.

bfreer - I have never seen a window sticker caution sign. The only good method is to show any passenger how to get in and out of car without touching the sidepipes if they are hot. And when showing it, stay around the car for the first 30 minutes or so and caution anyone that comes up to see the car.

DonC - loved your sign but had problems printing a good copy, so I created one almost identical to yours last night (assume its not copyrighted:LOL: ) and just posted a high quality image in my gallery (low quality attached to thread). After posting it I stumbled upon the best way to print any picture on a post or gallery. Just save the image to your hard drive and THEN print it. I was trying to print it right from the post. Thanks for great idea. I will put mine on the ground by the pipes as soon as I get out of car at cruises/shows and make sure it does not blow onto the pipes and stick:LOL:  for the first 30 minutes. By putting it on the windshield, I'm afraid that people would have a better chance of getting burnt leaning over to see/read the sign. Maybe not, but I'll try mine tonite at a cruise. Thanks

is there any type of thin magnet material(like placed on refrigerators) that wont burn? one could just place them on the exaust pipes when needed. a cool design might be like the little warning plackards on f-14's f-16's. they could be removed easily. just an idea.

Stencil the warning on "aircraft" style.

Bret.

Forget the magnet idea.
A magnet will permanantly lose its magnetism when heated. There may be some very strong ones that won't do this but I'm not sure. I used to sell science supplies to elementary schools. we would bake small magnets to get them to lose there magenism. As I recall it didn't take much (350 degrees for an hour or 2) The kids would be given to things that looked the same but one was magnetic and the other was not.

This place says they'll do low volume runs of static cling stickers ... www.accentsigns.com

I sent them an email with a simple example. I'll let you know what they say.

Godzila 08-11-2005 08:14 AM

It would be neat to have this printed on a couple of small 1-2 ft. tall stackable orange cones, that you could whip outa the boot and place along the sides ?
