Default trany grind under rear wheel travel

I shreded a T5 and replaced it with the Tremec about 3000 miles ago. the fit was much tighter in my B&B but the geometry remianed pretty unchanged. I noticed that when it is up on the rack and rear end fully extended that the wheels wouldn't turn. Once the rear wheels were jacked up a little the problem went away. Not one to take the car airborne while driving I figured this would not be an issue. yesterday, i hit a long dip in the road under acceleraton and felt/heard a harsh grind through the shifter handle. any ideas on what is binding???

What kind of angle is the driveshaft in?

Probably the driveshaft - exceeding the flex capability of the u-joints. FFR cars have restraint cables to limit the droop.

Note: the Tremec may have a taller rear mount than a T5, or some of the rear structure of the tailshaft may hit the frame. It can be trimmed as needed.

Ditto. I believe you should be at 3 degrees with the car on the ground. With your wheels hanging, if the driveshaft is locking up my guess would be your tranny is at too high angle upward.

all great comments and suggestions. when i installed the new tranny the position of the mount allowed the drive shaft to hit the frame so i had to put about 1/2 to 5/8 inch of washers to make it clear. i'm not sure what the resulting angle is but will check.
