Default Help correcting driveline angle

Installed my rebuilt 427 from Keith Craft, and have bolted up a new TKO 600. Now I'm concerned about the driveline angle. About to go get a digital measuring gizmo from Home Depot to figure out the actual angles, but as you can see from the picture, it doesn't look like it's where it needs to be ie less than 3 degrees.

Question is, what's the best way to correct this? I can put a taller mount under the tail of the tranny to lift it up, but am concerned about how much I can do this without putting undue stress on the transmission. Would it help if I loosed the motor mount bolts, then lined it up, and then went back and re-tightened them?

It all lined up before with a Tremec 3550, but I now have a new bellhousing and have reinstalled the engine.

Please help - I want to be driving this weekend - it's been 4 months and I'm having serious withdrawls!!

Loosen the motor mounts slightly, then lift the transmisson tail until you get the correct angle. The output shaft will compesate for the angle change. You may be able to shim your current transmission mount with a piece of drilled aluminum block. I had to do this as well.

On an ERA, the "design height" of the trans output shaft centerline is 3.5" above the plane of the X member.

Thanks all. I think I got it using Mike Forte's mount and shim he sent me. Just got back from the first drive - no transmission tunnel, no passenger side door, no hood - just me and 560 HP :-)

Default Want to do the same in my ERA

Did the shim from Mike simply lift the back of transmission to correct the drive angle? After you re-install the tunnel, please take a pic and let us other ERA owners that are thinking about a switch to the 600 how the shifter fits in the tunnel. I have heard the 600 shifter is higher and may not be in the same position for the shifter hole in the tunnel.

You have been through a lot, these are just wrap-up details... Did you purchase your 600 from Forte?

The ERA tunnel is a tad too low for the Tremec shifter, so we've been making a ring to raise up the shifter ring and boot about 1/2". This will be fixed with our new 427 Series cars' tunnel.

Default Shifter Ring Picture

Bob, can you share a picture of this higher shifter ring? Will the new tunnel fit the older series 427 car?

The new tunnel won't fit the current cars.

The spacer looks like this:
