Default Which car for me ?????

This being my first ( hopefully ) real contact with other members of CC I am looking for advice on what type of car might best suit my needs. I would like to source a car, either kit or complete from the USA as from what i have seen nothing from this part of the world ( New Zealand ) would even remotely compare with the type of cars being produced in the States. Admitedly their is a SPF dealer in Melbourne, Australia who I am going over to catch up with in a week and a half but am not sure that I would source from, at this stage.
Basically as we are in the fartherest corner of the globe everything I've learned about cobras in the last 4 - 5 years has been through magazines or web sites and in taking the plunge to purchase I want to be sure I am making a well informed purchase. I am 6 foot 3 inches so from what I can gather would have a problem fitting into some of the brands available, ( first problem ). I have no real or perceived judgement as to which brand may be the better or best and am sure there will be a lot of differing opinions but with the NZ dollar being what it is ( second problem ), I don't wish to spend more than $40k US either. Also am not adverse to purchasing a good kit up to turnkey minus if indeed this might be the best way to start ????
Look foward to any and all advice
