Default Jag Brake Help

Hi Guys,
I'm changing the early model Dunlop calipers on my Jag rear end to the later model Girlings, and I've run into technical difficulty........My center section is an E-Type Series II(horse shoe caliper mounting brackets), and I have it from a good source that the Girlings will fit with "slight modification". It looks like they just need a little grinding on the ends of the mounting tabs, but before I start hacking away on Really Expensive British Motor Car Bits (REBMCB) I need a second opinion.....Preferably from someone who has sucessfully made this upgrade by grinding away on thier own REBMCB......

Thanks!
Jon

Jon,
I had a shop change my series 1 calipers to series 3 calipers. Dunlops, Girlings I don’t know. But there was grinding involved. The grinding was to center the caliper on the rotor. That doubled the pad area but didn’t make any difference in stopping. Sounds like what you want to do. I can take pictures if you want.

Hi Tom,
A picture would be great if it's not too much trouble. I'm making the change because I have a set of each, and I hear that the Dunlops are prone to leak.
Thanks,
Jon

Jon,
Here are the caliper pictures. The caliper is red. The rotor is fuzzy in the middle. I think the grinding was done where the caliper is bolted to the black bracket. I can e-mail you larger pictures if you need.

Thanks for the pics Tom. That's exactly the setup that I've got....The grinding begins tonight
