Default Question about shaft mounted rocker arms

This question is probably not really suited for the Cobra forum but maybe someone has the answer or possibly give me an idea where else to go to get the answer.

A friend runs a SBC 357 cu in "Dirt" modified race car. He has been using pedistal mounted rocker arms but wants to switch to a shaft mounted system. The cost is in the $2000 range so he wants to make sure he gets it right before ordering the kit.

He is using Brodix spec heads, "SP CH" is the designation. The question is how much offset is required? for the intakes? for the exhaust? Brodix says to use the same offset as for their Track 1 heads but the problem is that each rocker manufacturer indicates different offsets. Some say as much as .250" while other say no offset at all.

Does anyone know what offset to use? My friend is going to try to determine the amount of offset required by using a straight edge square and some micrometers but this will be a guess at best. It would be great to get the opinion from someone that has already run this setup.

Both of these guys are active on the dirt racing forums and are quite helpful.

Thanks Scott, I am in the process of contacting them.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Default recovered from R&G

scottj Hope you have recovered from R&G. Like to thank Morris for the $800.00 spring and shock bill. The rear stablizer bar bill will wait until Christmas. Best $100.00 ever spent , didn't think a G note was next. Rick L ps how's the dirt track coming?????

Hey Rick,

R & G was a great time. But... you know what I mean when I say, it's time to get serious. I'll be back.

Wayne,

What was the verdict on the shaft rockers?

Scott

I sent Tony Barker an email inquiring about the offset and pricing. He replied only with prices. I haven't sent an email to Hendren as yet but I will. There is no big rush as the season is over and the engine will not be refreshed until the late winter/early spring.

Thanks for the leads.

Wayne
