I used a copper faced 3 lb. hammer on my Austin Healey for years with zero problems. The copper is more resiliant than lead and leaves the surface of my chromed knockoffs absolutely clean, no scarring or marks.
There is a company in Kalifrigginfornia called Moss Motors, I think I gave them about $15 for the hammer although that was ten years ago.
