Default Aluminum door skins..............

CC Members:

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...php?photo=5001

I am about to embark on a winter project with "Mickmate" in the fabrication of aluminum doors for a CCX. He will have no trouble making the frames using steel however the skin is the problem. Looks like an English wheel may be needed. The link above indicates STROKER has done this before and it looks like on a CCX. Anyone know him? Anyone else out there doing door skins? This will be a great help if anyone has suggestions before Mickmate and I spend a huge amount of time and a few fingernails on this fabrication.

Thanks
Jeff

Hey Jeff
Did you end up making door skins for your car?
I'm thinking of doing the same thing and wondered how your project went.

Hi Larry, doors aren't going to need much if any wheel work. Jeff and I were just looking at some door frames as a matter of fact and this was back in our discussions. Jeff has got some other good projects he's wrapping up from this winter. Are you into yours yet Larry? We need to get some of these going on one of our cars!

A friend has a couple of door skins he bought for a 4000 body that I are the wrong size that I'm thinking he would be interested in selling/trading. Let me know and I'll put you in touch with him.
These are the aluminum door skins he bought from Kiwiracer that I believe are off a High Tech.

Ahhhhhh, I hate to tell ya, but winter is over. OK, maybe not yet for people that live in Cowhampshire. Stop getting Mickmate to work on projects. I want to see his Cobra sometime within this decade (or next), even if he doesn't have the seats bolted down.

Good luck on the door skins.

Warren

You are correct, Nick and I just got back from FL. 85-90 everyday is easy to get used to, my heat is still on here in cowhampshire and it's expected to be in the 20's tonight.

I'm out of oil! 52 in here yuk. Hi Bob, always interested in that and the other you e-mailed me on. Warren you're right but I just love it, can't say no and it's good sponsorship for my own project.

I'll see if I can get some measurements on the door skins and mail if off to you to see if it will fit your project.

Mickmate
I have door frames and could have bought them with skins but I would like to try it myself. I'm really not to that point yet though but I'm always thinking ahead.
I also thought of skinning them with fiberglass. Once painted, they would look the same which is what I'm really after. Any thoughts on fiberglass?

Bob,
If your friends skins don't fit Mickmates or Jeffs cars, could you send me some measurments or paper templates? I might be interested if they can't use them.
Larry

BTW, it was 95 here today!!

I have a glass drivers door skin that could be helpful as a template or whatever to someone.
