I had thought about that as well. I don't think that you would have to cut the tubing in half though. As long as the tubing was covered with a thin covering that the resin would not stick to, I would think that the tubing could then be the pattern used to form the rolled fiberglass edge. I'm not sure if it would really work the way I'm imaging it but it sounds good.
