PCV valve connection help

Need some help here-

I have Blue Thunder Comp style valve covers and this is the PCV valve:

I would like to connect a rubber hose to it using a right angle connector. I found this at McMaster-Carr. It's a push-to-connect tube connector.

However, i'm not sure this can be used with a barbed tube. I believe it is for use with non-barbed tube connections as it has a steel ring inside the connector housing. The steel ring may not fit over the expansion of the barb.

Does anyone have any thoughts or other ideas?

Phil,

Could you take the steel ring out of the inside of the connector housing without ruining it and then just push the rubber part down over your PCV valve? I did that with a vacuum connection I had and it worked ok, but the steel ring inside my connector was easy to remove.

Verify diameters and then chuck the barbed fitting in a lathe and remove the barb, very eazy, however the steel ring is probably formed of a piece of wire with ends and will expand.

If it's a spring loaded PCV valve you could simply use a 90deg pipe thread adapter.

I used a standard 429 PVC valve (Fram or Motorcraft ) from early 70's and it comes with a plastic elbow that you could remove and use in your application.

These are all good suggestions...
Thing is, if you look at the picture, you'll see that changing the PCV valve isn't an option. The Blue Thunder Comp valve covers have a billet cap that screws into the valve cover. It's not push on. The PCV valve itself then threads into the billet cap. Best I can tell, the PCV valve is a Novo unit out of a 2001-2005 Toyota Highlander, believe it or not. So the bottom line is that I either just directly fit the hose to the barb, which will look weird, or come up with some sort of right angle arrangement.
