Kevin,

I agree the mounts on your friends car may be different from others.....he either must not have original SPF sidepipes and/or sidepipe mounts. I remember seeing that bracket on a sidepipe website, but I can't remember where. I know for a fact it is not an original SPF mounting bracket.

These are what SPF supplies. The first picture is from the Superformance Mark III Installation Manual. The other 2 are of my original sidepipes:
