Default Budget Build

I have a friend building a 5.0. He has a 1982 block that is not an HO. Has E7 heads and wants to put the HO intake and an E303 cam. Will this combo work? This engine will be going in a 67 Mustang. If there is any other info needed let me know i will reply.

Thanks Mark. But I have another question. What firing order will he need to use, HO (351) or the regular 302 firing order?

HO EFI. The cam dictates the firing order.

What block is this 1982 block>?

The lifterbores may be the shorter pre 1985 bores, in which case converting it to a roller is somwhat involved and the lifters may starve for oil.

please send over the part number for the 1982 block. --ford made some weird engines in 1979-1983 so it would be good idea to verify exaclty what this thing is.....

also with the E303 cam, you probably want to get an indexing timing chain and index it 2 to 4 degrees advanced if this is going to be a street car with an automatic.

if it is a manual and he doesnt mind a lopey idle then straight up is fine. -- you will have to run the timing a bit advanced to get this to idle well.

Dont forget the E303 is a STEEL cam, so you need a STEEL distributor gear.

This is going to be a street car with a manual tranny. I have tried to find the cast numbers and this is what i came up with....next to where the starter mounts is,,,
on a plate: OE30
in cast next to it: 28 CA E7TES
In the valley is XXX SB 28. Stamped on side where mounts go: 20F15
Man I hope this can be figured out. Thanks for the replies. Any help is Great.
