My goal is to get a better 0 to 100 time with a focus on really increasing my 0 to 50 mph time. FFR will be driven mainly on the street. 3:55 rear end.
Mostly stock 351w with a Victor Jr Intake on it now.
I will either go with Trick flow or AFR heads and a modest cam change a little later
If you're needing an intake that will be the best of both worlds for now and later, I would look at the RPM Air Gap. It should give you a little more power on the bottom/mid range for now and would still give you great performance with new heads and a cam later on.
You'll probably find that the Victor Jr. makes things a little "soggy" down low with only 351 cubic inches pulling through it. It takes more rpm to get the larger amount of air in the intake to get moving and build velocity.
The dual plane intakes should help out quite a bit and still offer good performance with better heads/cam. (Go with the AFR's....)
i have a 351 crate fms engine and switched to an rpm air gap and like it much better. like you, am possibly getting ready to change the heads & cam. with the dual plane you can sometimes use a larger carb also.
