Good point. Once I am more educated on the process I can look for a local source.

I am not that adverse to shipping, provided the pipes are properly protected. But if all things are equal, it's cheaper and faster to just get the coating done locally.

When selecting a vendor, check the specs on the ceramic process/material being used vs the vendor's powder coating. In some cases, " ceramic ' has become a generic name/term for any type of coating.

I shipped my pipes, the local UPS Store constructed 2 cartons from HD corrugate sheets. Pipes were wrapped and the packing material reduced movement. Vendor, Swain, used the same cartons to return the coated pipes. UPS insured for the full replacement value of the side pipes, no problems.
