Serial no. location on FMS 392 (351W)...?
Can anyone tell me where to find the serial number on my 392 (351W) crate motor from Ford Racing? That is, where is it stamped?
Can I see/read it from above, just by opening the hood, or will I need to get under the car to see it?
Thanks.

It's a small metal tag (square) that is bonded to the block on the passenger side below the head.

No, that is the block casting number... commonly entered as a serial number which results in all kinds of police anti-theft units making you sweat when trying to register it. Seeing as how it is a part number and not a unique serial number.

Thanks Jay.
I took a look, but can't see the tag from above. Wonder if it's visible from below, if I get the car up on a hoist.
I tried taking some pictures using my digital camera, but the space is too tight, the lens is too close and the images are unfocused.
Maybe I can get my daughter to read it using a mirror and her young eyes.

Easier from below if it is still there.

Jay's Right
I've got a FMS 392 and it is pretty easy to see the number from below, passenger side.
