Smile RPM Air Gap manifold/Holley hood clearance

Like others I have minimal hood clearance on my SB Ford 427 in my Hurricane. I use a K&N 9" extreme air filter with a 2" K&N filter. My solution was to sandwich the base between 1/4 inch steel plates on a hydraulic press and drive the 5.125"
base up into the 9" base until the 9" section barely clears the float adjustment screws on my 780 CFM Holley. There is a minimal amount of wrinkling in the 5.125 section of the base which is invisible with everything in place. The intake is an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap.

You did what? Try this

MAXX Air System MAXX Air System [427 289 CSX CCX KMP ACE HT SPF] - $267.40 : Acton Custom Enterprises, Custom Metal for Cobras

I have an RPM Airgap too, not much room!

I have a RPM Air Gap intake manifold with a modified Holley 750 Double Pumper with the Roush air cleaner and it is tight but fits perfectly. I've never worried about clearances. The block is the 427 Dart racing block. I think I have some pictures in my photo Club Cobra albums.
