Sean,

If you can run the engine with the rocker cover off, then get a 5-10 thou feeler gauge and slip it between each rocker/valve stem. If you hear a difference, that's the one.

Does it have adjustable valve train, and if so have they been adjusted correctly? You may find one is backing off.
