Can you post a pic of your linkage system, and calibration details of the carbs, venturis, and all jetting please?

It sounds like you have some calibration/synchronization issue that your local mechanics can't get around.

Yes, your 331 would go well with a well set up Holley, but won't have the throttle response of a good Weber setup.

my car is at the coach builder and i am in holidays right now, so unfortunately i cannot give you details of of the carbs, venturis, and all jetting, i will check it out as soon as possible

Linkage is good, should be a breeze to synch carbs.

Don't like the filter screens myself, they are sieves and restrictive for hp.

A quad of K&Ns would be on my list.

thanks gary, the screens are already wasted, ohne flew away on the first testdrive

the main issues are these:

i am nearly passing out due to the exhaust fumes and when i lift the throttle, i have immediately backfire alarm....

Have you tried to tune them, or just running them the way they came?
Both of those issues are correctable.
