Ford 289

Hi all,
I have a dart 289 block and the water pump neck is almost touching the ati damper.
So I want to replace that pump with a “drivers side inlet” pump.
I have reached out to tuff stuff,but do not have got a good reply.
Does it need to be a 289 pump or can it be a 302 pump?

302 pump will be fine. But an early 289 front timing cover takes a pass side only water pump. So it is dependent on your timing cover. Dart 289 block? Didnt know they made a 289 specific block.

I don’t know for sure as I bought it second hand.
But that is what the seller told me?

Post a picture of your timing cover. Does your dampener have timing marks for both the drivers side and pass side?. 289 cover the mark is on the drivers side only. The swap can be done with the right parts. how many bolts does your front pully take. 4 bolt pully equals drivers side water pump pickup.
