Sounds like if he's not offering the beefed up one, that he *could* be full of hot air. T5 definitely will break.
If you are going to be running 400hp, I have heard (emphasis on heard) that the 3550 will more than handle that and shift a little smoother than the TKO. Something about the materials the synchros are made of. I have a 3550 behind my 408 and it is a nice shifting unit. Only have about 600 miles on it though so can't speak on reliability. I know the 3550s are a little cheaper than the TKOs.
