Default 392 deck height?

The Ford Motorsport literature says that their 392 crate engine uses a Sportsman block. I believe these come in 2 flavors - 9.5" deck and 9.2" deck heights. I am tight on hood clearance, does anyone happen to know the deck height of the 392 Ford Motorsport crate engine?

Normally 9.5" is the version used. I understand they are in short supply right now for complete 392/430HP crate engines.
Hope this helps

Mark

Thanks Goober. Do you know how far backed up they are? I was looking at installing one later this summer, but if I need to pre-order, I'd like to know that. I realize that I can just call my Motorsport dealer, but it would nice to know my "angle" before going in....

.030 deck height will not make that much difference for hood clerance.

Sharpe,

The difference is not .030" - it's .3". This will make a difference. There are compounding vertical clearance issues including manifold height, head design, etc. 1/3" will make a difference in my application. At any rate, my question's been answered by Goober - 9.5" deck height.

You are right. I have had an issue with a 1969 block deck height at .480 and the newer blocks with .503 deck and this is where my mind was.
