Default Question on stroking a 351W

I just got my engine redone. I had to bore to .060 over to get past a crack. Here are my specs.

stock crank shaft
Forged Eagle I beam rods (standard length 5.956 inch)
Forged Wiseco 11-1 flat top pistongs
New Performer RPM heads
etc,

I know that with the .060 over, I am currently at 363 CID. If I go with a crank with a stroke of 3.750, could I still use the standard length I beams? All the stroker kits I see have slightly longer rods (6.00) or even longer (6.2).

Depends on the compression height of the pistons you use.

I believe the compression height is 1.769.

Don't forget that if you change the stroke, you will increase the compression ratio too. Make sure the new CR is what you want.

If you retain the current pistons and increase the stroke you will have to use shorter rods or you will push the piston out the top of the bore, and you would have horrible rod angles that would unfavorable side load on the cylinder walls. That is specifically why the longer rods ARE used, along with a relocated piston pin.
