Default Another engine ID question

Yesterday I had my BDR up on a lift and took down the casting numbers just above the starter motor on the right side of the block. Today I can't find the piece of paper that I used to write down the numbers. What little grey matter I had to begin with seems to be leaking out at a greatly increasing pace.

Anyway, I do remember the first two "letters" that were in the sequence. they were E9. I've searched this site for identification information and it looks to me like this would indicate the block was cast in 1989. Can anybody confirm this for me?

Thanks

Bill

Bill,
E9 would be a 89 casting. Ford uses a letter date code. C is 60, D is 70 E is 80 and so on.

Thank you Bruce!

By the way, I found the paper on which I had written the numbers. In the trash of course.

The full sequence was E9AE/6015/AA/13/0G26 (my friend was reading off the numbers so if I'm using "/" instead of "-" then my mistake). Any significance to the other numbers?

Thanks again Bruce

Bill

If you call your local Ford dealer they should be able to tell you what is was made for and the build date. The first set should tell you what it was made for E9AE-6015-AA is an engineering number but it should cross to a good number.
The other should be the build date.

Sledge,
This is how I read your numbers:
E9 - 1989
A - Application code - Full size sedan
E - Engine
6015 - Part Identifier - Engine block
AA - Revision code
