Default Question about Victor Jr Intake

Out of curiosity, why is there no rear water crossover channel or hose for the water to flow from one head to another? I noticed there was also no rear passage on my old Performer RPM intake either. It just seems the cooling would be better if it could flow from one to the other.

Looks like both the old GT-40X heads and the new AFR 185's have the ability, but the intakes block it off. ???

The heads have the coolant outlet/inlet on each end because they can be used on either side if the engine.
What is the rear on one side would become the front on the other side etc, etc.

The way the water pump circulates the coolant is to pull coolant from the bottom of the radiator after it has been cooled. Then force it under low pressure through the two inlets at the front of the block through the timing chain housing behind the water pump, into the block, around the cylinders, upwards through the deck surface, into each cylinder head and then forward out the front of the head into the manifold crossover and then finallly out through the thermostat area. The manifold has areas that could be modified for a cross over hose at the rear but I am not sure if it would serve any purpose.

It allows a small amount of coolant to be circulated by the waterpump, to avoid hotspots and aid in an even warm up befor the thermostat opens (if one is used). That is the bypass hose. The "Other" small outlet on the waterpump is directed into the bottom of the surge tank in FIA type applications. It actually becomes the hose that coolant passes through to fill the system when coolant is added to the surge tank.

Do Fords put rear cylinder head lines like a Chevy. On the Chevy, you run an AN6 from the back of each head to the outlet fitting on the intake manifold. If you don't an air pocket can develop there causing all sorts of issues and a highly tweaked motor.

DAVENJ
I don't recall seeing this done very often. To get a better idea check some of the vintage pictures of 60's Trans Am cars. If it was benificial they would have used it consistantly. I think Chevy's just run hot when you lean on them
