Help with Inline 4 & crossboss intake
I am building a 64 289. I am looking for a set of inline 4 and a crossboss intake. I have posted before about this question and have recieved much help. I have the engine in a build shop and now I would like to know if there are any out there. I have also toyed with the idea of a tripower set up but I am finding that this is also a rare set up. Any help with locating this set up would be great. Thanks for the help.

Check my gallery, the last complete cross boss setup I know of sold for about 3K on ebay. Check each week, you might see one.

I thought the cross boss intake was made to fit the Boss 302. You will need to use cleveland style heads to make it work.

I admit it would look cool! But why not just go with webers ?

Roadrod 2000 is correct. I do not believe manifold for Cross Boss was developed for the inline valve Windsor type head.

Worse, I believe you will need Cleveland head on an 8.2" block. And, that carb is sort of dead in the water. It was a great idea though. A real shame all 4bbl carbs aren't built that way.

Corky- you said you were building a 64 289, If you use the 289 crank you would have to have special pistons to work with the canted valves of the cleveland heads. A 302 crank could use Boss 302 pistons. If you are thinking of stroking it then????????????? A Tri power set-up or even a dual quad would be less complicated. Check out this link http://www.carlsfordparts.com/main.html and look under the induction systems for complete set-ups

The 351C pistons have the correct pin height to run in a 289. They come in a variety of compression ratios and are easy to get....the carbs and intake are another thing.

Thanks for all the info. The engine is the build shop and the shop is working up a price to stroke it. I want to get about 350 HP. He said the best way was a stroker. I still lean toward webers but the 3x2's are a neat setup, different than what you see all the time. I still guess a single 4bbl is the standard and less $$$ than all the rest. Roadrod2000, thanks for the link to Carl's Ford parts, the tripower set is cheaper than on ebay. Time is not critical but I would like to get it done over the winter and be ready for next driving time. Again thanks for all the input.

You certainly don't need to stroke a 289 to get 350 HP, although it will build more torque. Current technology heads and various intake manifolds with intelligent camshaft choice and good exhaust will put you right there. When your foot is on the floor and your hair is blowing, you'll never know the difference.

Corky,
For that question you may want to look around here and ask a few questions.
http://www.boss302.com/board/
The members are knowledgable and easy to talk to. Plus you'll probabaly find someone who's done this combo already. There is also a used parts area with some good ebay hot links.
Hope it helps, Steve
