Get the book "How To Build Max-Performance 4.6 ltr Ford Engines" by Sean Hyland. It is well written.

I have no clue what a CVPI, P71 is.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

CVPI = Crown Vic Police Interceptor, P71 is the Police code in the VIN, P73 is cab/fleet code, there is a difference now, did'nt use to be as far as I've read.

A supercharger would be the best bang for the buck.

Besides my Superformance, I also have a 2004 Crown Vic LX Sport (a P74 model). Check out http://www.adtr.net/ for some cool stuff they have for the 4.6L in the CV's.

One MAJOR improvement was the upgraded ADCO sway bars. Not too bad to install if you have F/R factory bars (a P71 should have em). Made the car come alive in the corners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, another great site is http://www.crownvic.us if that link gives ya trouble, try http://www.crownvic.us/forum/index.php
Lots of great help there!!!

there are alot of Mercury Grand Marquis
" MARAUDER " models running around with some impressive tweaks AND SUPERCHARGER by Trilogy

. Maybe they have some stuff that will work on the Crown Vics too. These cars are sleepers and run strong , see :

http://www.trilogymotorsports.com/products/index.php

laugh if ya will, but if ya want a big boat that can surprise some folks, this would do it . Bill.

I LOVE CV's. Whenever we rent a car on vacation, I ask for a CV. The first time we had one, we were amazed at how everybody would move out of the left lane to let us go by. Finally the light went on: "They think it's a freakin' cop car!!!"

All that aside though, they're nice, big, comfortable cars with enough oomph to get going (well, relatively speaking, for a modern car...).

If I could get by with just a car, I'd probably have a CV.

Default Cv

Hello, I was an engine calibrator on the Crown Vic for many years. Glad to hear it is such a well liked vehicle. The 4.6L 2V in that vehicle is very borderline spark limited. If you don't mind running premium fuel you can see up to 0.5 sec 0-60 just by adding 5 deg of spark at WOT. We had some blown cars over the years as well and they were very pleasing to drive.
Have fun.

Thanks for the advice rickski, the more we drive her the more we like her, working on a cold air inlet now, figured someone made headers for CV's but so far no luck, computer holds her to 130 but has pedel left and feels rock solid/steady at that speed.

I have heard of problems with headers putting the O2 sensor down in the collector. It's too far from the head, and causes the computor to stay in open loop mode. Any ways that is what I read.

If you really want to make it go, put a set of 32 valve DOHC heads on it. I got a set laying around if your interested. Complete with cams, chain guides, got the whole engine.
