Question 1969 351w serial number?

Hey Everyone,
I've been told by some people that a 1969 351 Windsor does not have a serial number... only a casting number. Then I saw a picture of a 1970 block with what appeared to be a serial number. What's the story on these older blocks... serial number or not?

Are you sure it wasn't a Boss 302 block they had the VIN #s on the top of the block behind the intake..
Or did the 351W Shelbys have the VIN#s stamped on the block like the early cars?

It may have been a Boss 302 block, I'm not sure. I just saw a partial picture. I'm purchasing a rebuilt 351w (C9OE-6015-B2) and I didn't know if there were other numbers I needed to find for the DMV.

According to my Ford Engine Parts Interchange book, your number is for a 69 351W. I think you are getting a good block.

52chevyred,
Can you date the production year for my 351W engine in my Backdraft. The engine was built by the Engine Factory. The casting # on the engine block is E4AE-6015-FA-7.

It should be a 1984. I've been busy lately, so it took me longer to reply.
