Unless you are running an auto, you will only need to change the bellhousing.
I have several Clevelands and have been running them since the mid 70s. The big port 4bbl heads are overkill for the street and kind of flatten the bottom end out. I think that your HP goals would be achievable with some of the big port heads and a stroker kit, but I'm not too sure how much fun it would be for daily driving. It would be a killer for a race engine though,road or drag. What car is it going in??

The engine is a two barrell engine but i did find a good set of four barrell heads. I'm actually building a mud runner that won't be drivin on the street. some people tell me the 2v heads will be better for a 4wd but i insist on the hp and rpm to keep those tires turning.

If your talking about a dedicated mud racin truck, the top dogs around here are running powerglides!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mud racing has really taken off here in the last five years and whether they are running fords or chevys,seems the powerglides are the transmission of the top runners..........they are using them in both the 300 ft. dirt drags as well as the 1200 ft. horseshoe mud pit.......
