It should if it's an open trailer. My Lonestar fits on my 6x14 trailer with 1/2" to spare in width and the nose hanging off the back a little. I winch it in tail first.
It's been on 3 trips 200 miles each way like that.

It will but it will be tight for tie down, what type of straps are you using?

Shouldn't be a problem as I've been towing two 65 Mustangs on my 16' open trailer since the mid 90's.........and a Cobra is shorter than a Mustang and similar in width....

This makes me think it's an enclosed trailer. I use a 6.5 x 16 enclosed trailer - Serpent Express - with plenty of room on each end, and no real room on the sides.
If it's something like a U-Haul box trailer, you might have trouble tying the car down. Also, rental companies list the interior size for box trailers, but don't include the wheel wells. You'll lose 15-18" in width there.

I'll be happy to drive it out to Florida for you! Only cost you a plane ticket home and a few hotel bills! I'm almost 62 and a good driver!

8.5 x 16 enclosed trailer is plenty big. I hauled my Cobra in a 7x16 enclosed trailer. It was tight, but it worked.
For you "no photo, it didn't happen" guys
