Default Best way to fill your cooling system and bleed the air / spark plug tip - 351W

I have found when filling my cooling system the best way to fill and ensure no air is trapped is to loosen the temp sending unit on the intake manifold a couple threads. I have the smith style sending unit so make sure you hold the sending unit from turning when you loosen the big 19 mm nut. If you completely remove it may overflow and then you have a mess to clean up. If you just back out a 4 or 5 threads at worse a couple drops drip out and you just wipe it up. This ensures the cooling system is completely full with no air.

I have done this numerous times. It is so much better than filling, waiting for the thermostat to open, filling, blah blah blah.

Another tip, if you are removing spark plugs and hear a pop, it means you broke the ceramic. Replace immediately. Even if you dont see a crack it is there. You will then spend weeks chasing a exhaust pop, erratic running and convincing yourself it is something it isn't. You may ask how do you break one, simple use a pos craftsman spark plug socket that is a little to big for the afr head. Instead go buy a Matco and be done.
