That cover does not come on the crate motor, it is an extra "option" that I don't think they will sell a lot of!

And tha aftermarket will not be far behind. And some of the 2012 "Boss 302" parts can go on bringing the HP to 444 (and keep in mind that is with a Mustang exhaust system) so a naturally aspirated 500 HP should be doable with a little tunin' & tweakin'!

MadMaxx, are you saying it would be easy to take the Ford ECU wiring harness and slap it on a carburated 427? Of course you would have to change the intake system from what ever you had to the Coyote type injectors. I still find it hard to believe that would be easy to do without some pretty sophisticated electronics.

I am sorry, I thought you were asking how hard it would be to hook up the new coyote motor to its wireharness. To retrofit an older one would be a headache and I doubt you would ever recover you cost. I am sure it is possilbe. I would suggest an injected throttle body as opposed to individual injectors on a retrofit. Do a search for 427 build up he details the entire build plus the injected throttle with dyno numbers. Excellent thread!!

From what I have heard there will be coyote headers available from SPF. They are moding the mod motor car for the new m-6007-m50.

The mounts are basically mod-motor mounts.

I personally would like to see the 2012 BOSS 302 setup , with engine an the 6 speed trans as a crate offering .

From what I have been hearing some installers are leaning to a 5 speed T5 z for this, -- there has to be a nicer newer transmission that can be installed.

After all a 2011 engine with a 1987 transmission (1987 when the world class trans debut was ) is kind of a mismatch. There has to be production enhancements that we can take advantage of.

Modern motor & modern gearbox.

There are several Factory Five builds that are ongoing with Coyote engines in them. The Roadster and 33 Hot Rod included.

Nick,

Do you mean to infer that there may be a supercharger option for the 5.0 coming from Ford Racing?

Why you must have a crystal ball! (wink, wink, nod nod)

Keith,

We have NOT done a "Coyote" install, these pictures are from the car Lance had done in So. Cal. Our install contractors are ready, willing and able to put a 5.0 in your SPF MKIII.

Here are more pictures......we are ready however for anyone who wants this killer powertrain....

Sounded fantastic, nice technique get into 2nd, that would probably help me from spinning 360 degrees and floating off the road. Now all we need is a cover on the scoop so rain does not enter the engine comparment, and a tight top and we have a dailey driver.

Default noob question

Are fuel injection and the wonderful loping idle of a less-than-tame cam mutually exclusive?

Its smooth quiet idle is due to the cam. Too bad.

The gross duration on the lobes and the lobe separation angle between the lobes are what gives the lumpy "Cobra like" idle. This is an emissions engine and cannot have that.

I love this combination and it will be my next Cobra. The benefits of modern fuel injection, reliability, driveability and probably pass emission if you had to. Car sounds great, not as throaty as a pushrod engine but very very few would notice. Looks great in the engine compartment. I dont think it can get any better.
