Kurt, are you a member of the Houston Cobra Club?

I am, haven't been active for about a year while I was undertaking some upgrades and repairs on mine. I'd sure like to see this one at a HCC meeting someday.

I had a '72 Ford Custom (a full size Galaxy/LTD body, taxi-fleet model) in this blue. I liked it so much I bought a gallon from the old Hi-Lo Auto Parts for when I can make my own 289 model. Congrats on choosing my favorite Ford color!

Cheers for having the good taste to order my dream car!

Dugly

I just now stumbled on this thread; don't know why I've missed it before.
Wow, what a nice combination there! It's pretty close to my 'dream' combination as well....the FIA body and Viking Blue / Princess Alice Blue. And I'm with you with the "clean and 'bling-less' look" as well. Understated. Doesn't have to prove anything.
Cheers!
Glen

Thumbs up The Gurney/Grant Stripe

Beautiful Car...in my opinion (CSX 2323) one of the most important and valuable historic cars. You can see the real deal at Bruce Canepa's ( restored to the Targa Livery) . I originally ordered my car from Superformance with the stripe and the more I worried about them screwing it up (down the center) the more I was convinced that the only way to get what I wanted was to have it done locally....yes, the stripe has a ridge...BUT...it is correct ....

IMHO - The FIA stripe is really not such a big deal when compared to the Le Mans stripe(s). Besides, if I get tired of Red I can then go to White, Yellow or even Maroon. Perhaps change it every year to look like I have all 5 cars… LOL

BTW- I spoke to Bruce about the color of CSX 2323 about 3 months ago. He said it was no longer there but he didn’t say as to where it ended up.
The car is beautiful without the stripe. I considered tape and Full Throttle (Stefen and Lucy) tried a couple but were not sastified with the quality. I had to have the 146 red bar cuz I saw that mother race in Sicily back in 64.

I don't know how to do that, but if you pm me with your email I know how to send photo's that way..my avatar is really too small to see. I think you can click on my avatar and save it and then view it with what ever program you use for jpgs. But my car is far short of what you are doing. It is a box stock SP in Portofino Blue. I wanted to do what you are actually doing, but for a variety of reasons, I settled for something close but no cigar.
