I just went back to old pictures where I actually measured these. The brake and clutch are floor (but in separate slots, not like the ERA). The throttle is top to the engine compartment. I didn't want to get into refabricating the throttle linkage. It was more work than it was worth to me. I just learned "Brakes slow, throttle go" and avoided bad RPM matched downshifts.

Try putting a straightedge across the backrest bolsters. It's probably not more than 4 - 6 degrees per seat with the stock floor plan drillings but it's there. Moving the seats all the way back for your over-height frame might have gained enough room next to the narrowest portion of the transmission tunnel so that they could straighten them out a little.

I just walked out and did just that... and you are absolutely correct. It's a subtle turn, but it's there alright -- and in eight years I never noticed it.

Well, I am from Arkansas and you know what they say about a blind hog (razorback). I can't be wrong all the time.

I assume you are referring to the roll bar mount? I do have photos but will need to dig into my "files" to find them. Be assured despite whatever someone may have told you, the outer bar leg does not mount to "air".

And consider the full width bar as an alternative to the dual bars if you are really concerned with the structural integrity of the bar. It looks the part and is very stout.

Are all 3 legs of the Superformance roll bar bolted to the frame? That article suggest that the outboard leg is just slipped over a round metal stub with just a rivet in place to keep it from creaking. That can't be right.

All of the roll bar legs attach to the frame. The outboard leg does have a rivet to hold it down in the receptacle that it mounts to. We do install a through bolt for anyone that requires it. It is a matter of "upgrade".....all brands have it.

I would say that would be a good upgrade. Patrickt, how is the ERA rollbar mounted? I'm a bit worried if it's also a slip fit. If so, I want to modify it to make sure it's properly fastened with good quality hardware.

Patrick. Does ERA have you on commission?
They should!

FWIW: I've seen an SPF pick up from its roll bar.
Despite not having a drive line in it, I was quite impressed.

Further, I'm willing to bet you'll never roll it & therefore I'll go as far as saying almost any roll bar (other than for a track car) is overkill.

I think you're complicating this far too much.
Both make for awesome Cobras, in my mind it's this simple.

If you want it now! Get an SPF!
If your happy to wait then put the deposit down and join the queue.

These cars are never finished! Even when they're finished you'll be working on them.
So you'll still learn plenty about them that way.

That's one strong rivet, LOL...

IIRC it had a bolt through it
In fact it had two rollbars and was pick up from only the one.

There is a large heavy sleeve welded on top of the frame. The roll bar ends slip in to that sleeve so they are resting on the frame. A bolt then goes through the sleeve and the bar. The trunk brace is a little different.

Yep, the year they took building my car seemed like it lasted forever. But in the end it was worth it.

I'm trying to think if I've ever seen an SPF with pusher fans. I'm wondering if the angle of the radiator causes problems with that or not.

I believe the engineers at Superformance felt the pusher fans were not practical with their design intentions. They purposely set the ride height to allow an occasional 4 wheel jaunt and they found the grass clippings produced from the front fans would clog the radiator and cause the inevitable small block to overheat.

The reason for the top mounted brake and clutch, instead of the correct floor mounted configuration? While off-roading, they found, if one gets stuck, the mud from their shoes would gum everything up.

I don't mean to imply is is mounted in air? I just want to know if it is mounted to the main frame rail or something mounted to side of the main frame rail?
