Default Set screw for sun visor?

Hey guys,

SPF2293 recently lost one of the set screws for the passenger side sun visor.

I took a picture of the good one, and I'm posting it here. Does anyone know what size and where to get a replacement? Also it looks like it'll need a very short allen wrench to fit between the windshield and the screw. Suggestions on finding one of those would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Daryl

It's small and metric. Stainless would be nice. Probably in the 3-4mm range, finer threads probably 1 pitch.
Drive your car to the hardware store and ask for help. I'd bet that one of the clerks would help.
It's just a set screw, nothing special.

Let me take a look at the visors for my 289 FIA. I removed them for racing. I imagine that they are the same for the 427's. If I have one, I will let you know and you can send me your address in a pm. I will mail it to you.

Sorry for the delay, been busy working on the car.

So, this is what I have, it is a standard sized allen wrench, not sure which size. I tried both metric and standard and the standard fit best. You will find with your SPF that some of the bolts are standard and some are metric, be prepared for that.

Let me know if you still need it and I will send it to you.

Jim

I suggest you take the visor clip off and go to your local hardware store. Replace the set screw with a short hex head cap screw. Easy to match threads at the local store.

Blas, your comment helped me. The original allen set screw socket was rounded out. I got a metric hex head bolt in stainless. Much easier to fuss with as I find I have to revisit that bolt periodically. Thanks.

Glad I was able to help. Had similar issue with mine years ago kept loosening, tried the nail polish trick but heat from sun eroded it.
