Default Red Light?

I have a push to start button that turns red when the ignition is on. What is the red light for? There is a blue light for high beams and a yellow light for turn signal.

Dave and SNAKE65 - mystery light

Doesn’t operate if you have a one wire alternator.

That was not the question. Now, why it's on could be his next question.

Actually, the red light has never come on. I don't know what type of alternator I have. It must be happy because the amp meter shows a good charging indication.
Instead I think I will connect the red light to the cooling fans. You cannot hear them running when the engine is running. Knowing when they are on should prove useful.

A fair amount of people, including myself, will say that they know when the fans come on when the AMP gauge goes slightly negative and when they turn off, AMP gauge returns to previous position.

You should get to know what you have first before taking the RED light out of the circuit.

Be very very very careful !
Consult your Wiring Diagram first!
