Harpoon PV2,

Although the “later generation” Cobra badge appeared to be the final version there was actually two versions of it, the earlier had a textured background and the final version had a smooth background. Also the earlier textured background version was void of any part numbers or identifiers where the smooth final version carried a Ford part number.

Guys,

Again, I'm just looking to tweak the car a bit, as I dislike the billet and chrome under the hood (air cleaner not withstanding). Too flashy, too modern for my tastes. The AC knock offs I saw on another SPF and like the look vs the smooth, stock units. Voltage gauge in a modern interpretation of a 60's car, vs the original AMP gauges. Again, just a different view for my tastes. If I was going to go overboard, I've got a lead on an early CSX2000 series car, just tough to justify that type of money on what is essentially a "toy" when I can play with one like this one for just 10% of the original.

We supply the reverse wiper arms and the bayonet blades plus the instructions to convert to the correct park position.

We will have the 289 alternator brackets in the near future. they will NOT be concours correct, and will be aluminum, but will look 95% of the original at a nice price point.

Hey Bill, the photo below, has sent me down a similar path as you! I was agenizing over which tribute Cobra to do. Ed Hugus double badge car, Herbie Hancock CSX2006 Tasca, or maybe COX6057 The Cobra In The Bedroom! Then I saw on this sight, an argument on which steering wheel was correct, so I posted the photo below. It was from the August 1983 issue of Road & Track, where they compared a Contemporary and ERA big blocks, against a real S/C. I bet you can't guess which car my photo was of? That's a rhetorical question. After that, I was free. Lets' face it, even if, by some miricale I end up with a CSX8000 car, it still will not be an original, Shelby AC Cobra, so lets have some fun! Though, I still wish someone would replicate the two ear, flightless, near side, far side spinners, they are just so English! Cheers, Dennis
