Calling all "street" SPF's, please sign in...

All right, thanks so much Brent and Ron!

Looks like I'll be first out of the gate unless someone's typing faster n me.

I always wanted to find out how many other guys are out there with the street version of our great cars. SCOF does not break it down in that manner plus I spend all of my forum time here at CC. I also figured it'd get lost if I posted in the main forum so this is the place.

I'll go first:

-SPF 1660 Street car
-Solid Titanium
-No roll bar
-Added an unplumbed oil cooler since the cars don't come with them.
-Trashed the stock mufflers and installed Magnaflow stainless straight-thru's, still waay too quiet so I added elec exhaust cut-outs. They are so awesome  :3DSMILE:
-No Cobra badging, only AC emblems
-Pics in the gallery

sp1410 09-30-2006 08:24 PM

Okay, I'm next...

-SPF1410
-Royal Blue (solid color)
-No roll bar, no scoop
-Oil cooler installed
-Stock SPF exhaust and mufflers
-Cobra badging
-Pictures in gallery

I live near a pre-1000 #'d car which is silver with scoop and roll bar, so there are at least two SPF "street cars" that I know of in Oregon.

sp1410 09-30-2006 11:59 PM

Okay Boys,

Those are beautiful cars, but Dirtrich is trying to gather up a count of SPF's with undercar exhaust and look something like this:

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...0&ppuser=18841

JBCOBRA 10-01-2006 07:41 AM

spf2218 is basically a street version. Undercar exhaust. No stripes. Custom painted Ivy Green Metallic (a custom color option in 65 and 66)
It does have a shorty black role bar and a hood scoop. The scoop is so the engine/aircleaner would fit better/easier, and to help let heat out of the enginebay when the car was turned off.
My wife and I really enjoy the car. We have put 4400 since we got it, a little over a year ago. But, it has only been legal for about six months.
My favorite area to drive the car is in Upstate Ny. 200-300 miles from where we live. For example we were in Watkins Glen a couple weeks ago. Hung out with some great folks from here and elsewhere. (Roushac, Jim Kellog, Erol Walsh, Ken Arters etc...) Vintage Grand Prix.
The roads are big enough to exercise these cars, with a whole lot less traffic. And the scenery is awesome.
Enginewise I am running is a 406 in Windsor. Real plain looking on the ouside, but very nicely equiped on the inside ;) Lentz rods from Yates etc... Not a total animal but plenty for the street IMO. TKO 600.
Anyone in area wants to cruise, lmk. There is a Rally Oct 15 right near me that will be a blast. Any interest, pm me.
JB :)

Very attractive car, JB. Mine's not an SPF but the idea is similar. Check my gallery.

Cheers,
David

JBCOBRA 10-01-2006 10:26 AM

Hi David!
Sweet Car! Are you on the East, West or someplace inbetween?

saltytri 10-01-2006 11:33 AM

Southern Oregon. Lots of deserted mountain roads make for fun Cobra driving!

Pit lane is a street, right?

Here's a couple of Aussie street SPFs at the recent Australian Cobra Nationals. Both run 347s. I'll put some more in the gallery later: gotta go get all the bugs off it now:D
Richard.

Hey There!
I met you at Lance's the day you picked the car up. I was there with my father in-law. We were all a bit concerned when you hit second gear leaving the parking lot and got a bit sideways:eek: - Glad to see you made it home OK! Hope to see you on the road sometime soon!:)

Doug, SPC088

SP01715 10-04-2006 10:29 AM

Hey, how is it going, and how is your Coupe doing?

Yeah, I grabbed second pretty hard leaving the parking lot that day but the car never felt out of control. The car has been a lot of fun so far. The only bad drive was getting stuck in traffic going home that day on the 5 South.

Tom of VA 10-04-2006 08:44 PM

SP1410,
Wow I really like your car! What color blue is that? It looks great with the polished wheels. I didn't realize how nice these look with out pipes & stripes.

sp1410 10-04-2006 09:41 PM

Thanks Tom! The car is Royal Blue.

Lance Stander set the car up as it is now for the original owner who thought it was "too loud"- even with the undercar exhaust. I think it's just right...
