you can get the headers out if you sacrifice the lower part of the hole in the body. I did not do it by choice...old install and it had broken out as the motor settled down and the pipes broke through. I went ahead and finished of the job more cleanly. my car is gonna get a repaint soon anyway and I will have the body shop finish it out. But with that lower transverse piece of the hole gone, you can get the headers in and out.
