Default Traded for a SPF car

Hello. I just traded my DeTomaso Pantera for a 2001 SuperFormance car. The SPF car has a 392 Ford Racing stroker and a 5 speed. I take delivery of it soon.

Here is my Pantera...

Welcome! Keep us posted and let us know how it's going. No doubt you'll have questions along the way and CC is a great source of answers and advice.

What number is your car?

I had a '72 Pantera in the early 70s. Awsome car then and now. Have fun with the SPF.

The first thing you will notice is that when you turn your head you will be able to see behind you.

Enjoy the new ride...what # did you buy? Based on year, I'll guess #948.

VERY nice SPF Cobra. However, as much as I like Cobras, I'd have kept the Pantera if at all possible. IMO)

Very nice Pantera but I think you will have more fun with the SPF. My father had a Pantera back in the 80's that I drove a bit and while fun my SPF is much more fun IMO.

I think you do all right. I might have been tempted to do the same swap.

Was it an even swap?

Congrats on the SPF! Have fun, but take a little time to get familiar with the power and the fact that you only have a 90" wheelbase before getting too crazy. -It doesn't handle like your Pantera OR your 'Stang ! The 392 crate is a very popular choice for a lot of Cobra replicas (I know a couple guys with them myself) and it has been pretty reliable. If (I mean....WHEN) you get to the point of wanting more HP, do a search here on CC because there has been a lot of discussion on the power upgrades for the 392. Heck, just changing out the GT40x heads for a pair of AFR 185 or 205's will give you an extra 70-90 HP according to my buddies that have done this.

-Welcome to the Madness! Have fun, be careful, and (most of all) thank you for your service.

Terry
