Polishing Superformance Rims

I can never get my rims to shine like some of the others here. My centers are painted gun metal grey, and the outer rim can only be cleaned not shined. Im at a point where I will only hose them down and wipe them off 'cause any more work is a waste of time.

Why can't they be shined??

Get them chromed like some of the others.

Maybe at one point a previous owner (assuming you are not original) applied some ZoopSeal to them? Otherwise, you should be able to take a Powerball and (pic your aluminum polish) and go at it.

Blue Rooster and I are in the same boat. My wheels (SPO 1862) are clear-coated with dark centers. Apparently the practice of clear-coating aluminum wheels has been dropped in favor of a bare finish.

Does the chroming process work well over aluminum? I seem to remember a problem with the rates of expansion & contraction in the two dissimilar metals....
