Default Car won't shut off????

I have a Superformance Cobra and had just replaced the ignition switch to a Nappa replacement that was recommended by the Dealer.Unfortunately, it worked great for about a month???
Also, can anyone recommend a mechanic that works on these cars within the Long Island area.

You might verify that the switch isn't turning in the dash. I have heard of that happening more than once. It "feels" as if you turn the tumbler part, but you are actually turning the whole thing because the ring nut has lost grip...something worth checking prior to the repair shop.

What car # do you have?
It the "running" the starter turning or just the engine running?
There were 3 different ignition switches used.
But it sounds like the switch went bad again.
I know that if you have a heavy key chain, the weight of the keys and all the other stuff is hard on these 'low tech' ignition switches....

Hey Blas -
Dennis O. told me that the NAPA switches are not prone to the dangling key failure syndrome.

If you need him, I hear Nick in West Babylon (classic Concepts) believe it is on Edison, is the guy to see. I personally have not used him, but have visited his shop. He really knows these cars...

If you are running MSD, you may be getting feedaback into the small red wire when the key is put top the "OFF" position. If this is the case a diode has to be installed in one of the Alternator wires. Check MSD's troubleshooting website.

Good luck

Call Joe Manning of Manning Imports (he's in the book) His shop is on Glenola, off of Glen Cove Ave. in Sea Cliff. He works on 3 SPFs that I know and 2 CSX originals. Joe also lives in Locust Valley.
