Default Earliest SPF's Around?

Now that I've discovered this forum and enjoyed what I'm learning here, I'm curious.

Where are the very early SPF's?

I have SPF #023, Johan has #058, Tom has #095. Blas sent me pics of #010 and 011 which are right-hand drive apparently in SA. Has anyone seen other cars with numbers less than 100?

Thanks,

Bill Hagerup

#069 was owned for a short period of time by a member of our Windy City Cobra Club...It was Admiral Blue with no stripe. I believe it had the more original style dash layout too. It went to Germany in 2005...

Someone emailed me a question about all the wiring diagrams I have and if they cover the cars from this period. (Sorry, I lost your email address somehow) I really can't answer that positively, as I have no "hands on" car to compare them too, but I would imagine they are very close in layout to all the cars younger than #1040 as they were the development bed for them...I'll see if I can find out anything else....Johan would know...he has a copy of it...

I have owned SPF091 foe nearly 3 years. It's given me very little trouble and looks like new.

Johan, Mike Stenhouse put a nice article about the prototype cars on Second Strike. It includes the pics of the early SA cars.

Have been out of touch for awhile. Got interested in antique tractors, just not enough time to do it all. I have car 093. Bought it used in 1999 runs great.

Dave...Don't you actually have #92...
Do you know where that car was originally delivered?
or who was the first owner?
Car #066 was in out car club for a while, and that car is now in Germany...
Amazingly similar to the current offering...

You are right. Hit the wrong key, I do own #92. It was orginally shipped to Ronald Rosen- Superformance in Butler, Ohio. I bought it from Mike Franzoco in Toms River,NJ.

Excellent Info: Your car must be a 1996 I'd guess....
I also forgot earlier - #085 is in our club too...
Pretty much identical to the current offering by Superformance but I think the front ball joints or maybe it was the tie-rod ends were hard to find for the owner. Very limited availability - Mustang II I think they were....easier to fing in S.A.

I have a 1995 SPF #046. The car is still like new. I have the original SVO 351 that the car was ordered with, but will be stroking it to 408 soon. It was a early Ron Rosen car from their old dealership before they moved to Ross, Ohio. I think back than you could only choose between a crate 351 or 460. You could also go the FE route 390, 427, & 428. The stroker motors were not popular choices until later in the SPF production. My convertible top never fit right and the rear roll bar brace had to be removed to button the convertible top grommets.

Hey Gary,
Your another long time owner (1st ? I assume) Is it a 1995 production year?
Does yours have the early dash layout or the more traditional style like the newer cars?
What color blue is it? I know they had different names back then. It would be great to see a photo or two if you could post them...

Car # 23 was the first car to come to the US. It was a prototype. I got it, and it had a cable clutch like a mustang......terrible. Sold it to a guy in Fla, a pilot, then lost touch with it.

Are you guys aware that the first Superformance cars brought to the states were MG TD replicas. We brought in a dozen or so, before we did the MK III model. Great little cars, a friend still has his.

Question

Doug:
If the car had a 351 and was blue with white I think you sold it to John Capell. He died in October of 2006. I think his son now has the car.

My cars dash looks about the same as today's cars. My speedometer is not the reverse needle type. The car is guardsman blue with white stripes. My roll bar, quickjacks, and sidepipes are black like the original sc's. The cars in my opinion really haven't changed that much other than a few improvements and upgrades. I bought some meatballs and vintage decals for the car from Enzo and it looks like a real race car. I have over 10K miles on it and believe it is one of the best Cobra replicars out there in fit, finish and design. I'm a little biased though. The only trouble I've had was with the clutch, but with an external slave valve and clutch fork installed, everthing is fine now.

This forum entry isn‘t very new - I know - but I have something to add...

Hello Bill,

you asked the Guys around if anybody knows anything about the very early SPF‘s.

One of these cars is mine. I‘m the proud owner of the SPF #011 ( see also Superformance Owners Forum's SUPERFORMANCE NEWS and SP 011)

As I‘m seeking for the history of my car, I entered this forum.

Do you know something about my car?

Werner
