Default Driver side header removal

Does anyone with a Windsor block have experience removing the driver side header while the engine is still in his Superformance? I need to get mine out for coating, but there doesn't appear to be enough room between the engine and the steering column to do it.

I did it with a 460, you should be able to do it with a 351. Disconnected the sterring shaft, remove the forward 2 bolts holding the heat shield (so you can lift it up a little) and it will twist out from the bottom.

I just installed my windsor and we managed to get the header in without disconnecting the shaft. Although it would have made it easier if we had. Like he said just lift the panel a little and it will slide in or out whichever you want to go.........

Good luck and happy motoring

Default Header bolts

Never had to disconnect the steering shaft, but it's certainly easier to have the car on a lift and having it part way up in the air, some bolts are ez from the top, some are ez from the bottom to tighten.
