SPF Ceramic sidepipes refinish?

The sidepipes on my car are starting to look a bit worn. Both of them have some small spots of rust comming through. Has anyone had these re-coated. Can a body shop do this work or a chroming company?? Can you do it yourself? Suggestions?

Ceramic coaters can just sand blast and receramic coat them for you.

Find a Powder coating operation, they'll blast them down and recoat in whatever color you want. Should run you about $300.

Mine were the same way. Some amounts of rust and dull finish. Sent them to Jet Hot and had them blasted / re-coated. Excellent results with a beautiful finish

anchor....how many miles ??? mine are in the same shape after 17K

I don't believe powder coat can handle exhaust temperatures. It is baked on at 400 deg and can only handle short bursts of about 450.

IMHO, I would not recoat them. Very restrictive, 1inch by 1inch flow path inside. I put on 3inch glasspacks after the collector. A little welding and fab. Big difference!!! I also used duplicolor silver 1200 degree ceramic header paint out of the can and looks great and has not flaked. You can always reshoot it again with the same paint later.

Just a note on cleaning ceramic coated side pipes, Laquer thinner works great on mine for cleaning.

Come to think of it, my pipes probably looked the same at 15k...

I emailed Dennis Olthoff the other day and asked about the ceramic coating that was originally on my pipes almost 7 years ago. The finish was excellent and had a very dull shine to them.
Dennis said " We use a high temp black powder coating that seems to hold up a lot better." So now I guess im looking for a powder coating shop that does high temp ???
