Thats just makeing sure the piston is all the way to the bottom of the cylinder and pushing all the air out..........you could bench bleed the cylinder and do the same thing before you install the cylinder then it dosent matter if the piston goes all the way down because there is no air in the cylinder.

thats the issue im having... it seems my cyl does not go all the way back, i can pull it back that little bit by pulling back on the clutch fork, when i let go of the fork it pushes back out again, could that be cause by having some air in the hyd clutch cyl ?

I have bled my clutch at least 4 times in the 10 years I have had my cobra. All I do is fill the reservoir with fluid, leave the bleed valve slightly open, with a piece of hose on it that goes into a jar.

Don't let the reservoir run out of fluid.

Go in the house and have a beer, come back out and close the bleed valve. Put the fluid back in the reservoir from the jar.

Pump the clutch pedal a few times and do the same thing a few times.

It always works great.
