We use this filter on the pressure side.
http://www.cmfilters.com/remote_filt...il_filters.htm
It is 8 microns and the oil has to go thru it ...no by pass .... sealed on top and bottom..... and I can run the oil pressure as high as we want to ..... the pump is a Aviaid pump .....but we had a Cast iron pressure section made for it and the pressure stays stable at hige temps.
And we use the screen filters mounted in the oil Pan to the pump and then we use another one like this on the scavenge side out of the pump and to the oil tank.... both are needed, We take temps of oil in the Dry sump tank and we take temps after the cooler going back into the motor....
http://www.cmfilters.com/remote_filt...en_filters.htm
You can't protect your engine enough..... and our oil temps will go as high as 300*degrees and that is using the largest NASCAR Cooler made by Fluidyne.... Huge Cooler....

Where can you get the best price on the FL1-HP? You can usually find it on Amazon for about $16 (includes shipping) which beats the Ford dealer's price.
You can also use the WIX 51622.

I went through the Gopower reusable oil filter thing on the Vett C5 forum. I wanted to get it, but never did. I only put a couple of thousand miles on my Vett a year, and I guess I am just kinda lazy. But, as in this case, nobody seemed opened minded to it at all. If it does filter better, and keeps flow up, why would you not want to use it? If it is protecting your motor more efficiently, what's to think about? Sure you have to take the time to clean it, and it costs alot in comparison to a disposable filter, but why say no? Im just curious

Oil filter study
The oil system has been a long drawn out process for me to sort out being dry sumped I have been playing mind games on whether to fit cooler on pressure or scavenge side, and what oil filter to use.
The outcome (today) is to run Cooler and the Canton 40gpm thermostat here in not so hot NZ, on the pressure side, going through a Canton remote cannister oil filter.
After looking at all the different Oil filters, and its really obvious if you are serious about racing then you dont put a std filter on your car, generally people seem to use a good K&N, Moroso, Wix, Motorcraft, Fram HP and on it goes, the micron rating can vary from around 18 to 61 for the Wix Racing filter, also a lot of racers use stainless screen filters or around 30 - 45 micron, as they depend on oil flow to keep the engine alive...!
Looking at the Canton Cannister style filters for my primary engine oil supply, one of which I have just purchased, I wonder why more people dont use these, as they flow 45gpm which is more flow than most filters and filter down to 8 microns and look a quality product, plus are quite compact compared to an HP6 Filter and remote adapter.!
It seems as they have the spectrum covered both in flow and filtering with the type of filter material and deep filtering design.
PS: Jac Mac I am going to keep an Aeroquip adapter in the tool kit if the oil cooler blows...LOL

Oil filter study
I have a canton thermostat that looks like it has the same shape. I see your point of "no by pass"
looking at it from my point of view I would have to import the replacement elements, which isnt a problem! I see on their website they have an inline filter that can be used as a primary filter as well, it uses the same part # element as the billet housing filter!!!
Did you notice any flow or pressure loss with the 8 micron?
I was going to use a Moroso filter of 27 microns but it can still bypass.
