Thumbs up Awesome Track Event

John/Jay/Gregg,

Congrats and thanks for organizing and conducting a really great track event at Harris Hill today. I've done a few there and this was smoother and more enjoyable than any of them. Perfect weather, great people, cool cars...the TCC at it's best. It was great to see you guys, the Two Garys from Dallas, and everybody else. Thanks for letting a 'Vette play with all of the snakes. I wish I could join in the rest of the festivities this weekend, but I'm really glad I had time to come out today. If the rest of the weekend gets no better than today it will be fantastic.

Hey you punk:
I agree with everything you just posted. John Shelton is to be praised for making a dream a reality. Thanks John. Now for that red corvette...you're good! Did you ever get around the blue Mustang? It was a joy running with you and all the rest. Superb Day!
Thanks.

Thanks.
That Mustang was a handful! It was a blast watching it sliding all over the track and trying to keep up.

That is one hell of a beautiful Daytona you've got--you should be very proud, and you drive it very well. As I made my way around the track today it never escaped me for a minute that my generic Corvette was circulating amongst a whole bunch of much-loved, very special cars. I know the feeling, as I track my Lister sometimes and the fear of hurting it is always in the back of my mind. If the worst happened and I destroyed my 'Vette, I could find a half-dozen replacements on the Internet in short order; the same is not true for a replica which invariably has a good deal of the owner's DNA in it.

As for my driving, I have the benefit of 30 years of suspension/brake technology, along with R-compound tires, all of which were needed today. I was impressed with how well everyone handled themselves, especially considering you guys were in a bunch of short-wheelbase, high-horsepower, street-tire-equipped cars on an unfamiliar, very technical track. That should be a recipe for disaster but there were very few incidents of any kind, a testament to the folks involved. I hope this track day becomes a TCC installment and that a lot more partake next year; like a good bottle of wine (or bourbon), track days are best when shared with friends.

Cheers to all and I hope you folks have a great weekend.

Bob

Bob,

It was great seeing you at the track event. Hey Vettes are cool too plus the Mustang's needed something to play with. How about another Cobra in future....take care and don't be a stanger on the site.....

Yes, John thanks for making the Track Event happen. It was the high point of my weekend! I had a blast! I still haven't got the grin off of my face yet.

Gregg, thanks for the loaner helmet and the work you did to pull everything together for this weekend!

I would also like to extend my thanks to John, Gregg and Steve for all the work they did putting together the track day. This was a really fun track and well run event I hope it will be an annual part of our program.

Also I want to thank all of the Austin group for their work on putting together an excellent event.

Bwana Gary

That was fun, even if the #10 Mustang broke. I borrowed a set of rear gears from a racing friend of mine and that didn't go too well. After discussing last night, we think it was the main pinion bearing failing. Pretty easy fix.

But I was the passenger in Roy's #189 Blue Mustang. If you thought it was cool watching him, you should have ridden. Oh my, a whole different thrill level. I heard Larry R. even saw an eagle while being past by Roy........... or maybe that was just a "bird".

My daughter Caroline is already talking smack about challenging all you novices again. Quite a thrill she had.

Gregg, I need to get that powder coat certificate from you this week. I'm pulling the 3rd member and transmission tonight to fix for the next race and want to refinish the headers while I have the car up in the air.

Thanks to all for a wonderfull weekend.

Steve,

There's nothing worse than a track day that ends prematurely. In your case, I saw you headed into the paddock after what seemed like about 2 laps and thought, "Uh oh". That sucks, as your car looked great and sounded better. I would have enjoyed getting to chase 2 GT350s all day. 45 years old or not, they are very quick cars.

Gary, I'm sure there's a Cobra, or some related vehicle, in my future. The decision to sell my slabside was not an easy one. If it were a track-worthy car I might have sold something in lieu of it, but these days if won't perform on the racetrack it goes to the bottom of the list. I still have a 5.0 Mustang in the garage but it's the fewest number of Ford-powered vehicles I've had in years. I'd love a crack at a Ford GT (wouldn't we all) but I'm still waiting on the market price for those to drop by 80%.

WOW! WOW!! WOW!!! I'm like everyone else who drove the track, just can't seem to stop smiling. I learned that "Snotty" is A LOT more car than I am a driver. The day could not have been any better, new friends, great weather, great cars.....just doesn't get any better. Thanks again to everyone who made the track day happen, especially John Shelton.

I had a the time of my life at the track! Thank you John, Gregg and Steve. You did a great job. The event was smooth as silk! It was wondeful to meet so many very nice people at the Meet. So far I haven't meet a Cobra person I didn't like. I look forward to hanging out with everyone more and can't wait until the next track day!!!!!
Thanks again,
Jack and Stephanie

Default Couldn't believe it when I saw all the cars when I arrived-

When I first found out a track event was added, I was really happy to hear it. But expected to see maybe 20 cars if that. Wow! I shoot track events almost every weekend and yes, this one moved along very well. Great event! Do it again!
