Because I have a theory that synthetic film might give better protection for a while when oil pressure is low or gone.

Oh okay, I got you now.. You might be right, but judging on the noise coming from the engine I don't think it would have lasted much longer without serious damage. It took me a few seconds to realize it was MY car and not some of the other nearby traffic.
