We are looking at either an overnight for just Saturday at Lake Whitney or a overnight for both Friday& Saturday; who will do just Saturday and who is up for Friday & Saturday night? Richard has got us a rate at the lodge which he should be publishing soon.

I've been visiting with the Lodge at Lake Whitney (White Bluff) we can get rooms there HOWEVER they have an inflexable six day cancellation policy. I do have access to a max of eight rooms at a deep owners discount and if they're availble we can get the rooms and price up to "day of." I like the lodge, view and security it offers for leaving my baby outside by herself, the red one, not the blue eyed one. PM me if your interested.

I would be up for Fri and Sat or only one night whatever everyone else wants. Sounds like a good time and some good cruising. Let me know.

Bringing this back to the top.

Can we get a head count?
Friday & Saturday or just Saturday night?

Turns out I am on call that weekend. I am going but only for the day on Saturday. If a group spends the night I might drive back out Sunday for some cruising.

Default Map with Disclaimer

Here is one possible map for the Meridian Cruise.

I have not driven all of these roads, but from a birdseye view it looks pretty good. TxDOT website makes no mention of construction on this route.

A few highlights if we do as published:

Meridian BBQ Championship and Car Show (starts at 10am)
Overnight at White Bluff Resort
Loco Coyote Country Diner and BBQ in Glenrose
Some Hill Country Cruising
Visit to Motorsports Ranch
Surface Fossil Find at Benbrook Dam (everybody gets a keepsake, I guarantee it)
Shotgun Scramble Homeward bound from 35W & IH-20

John, map looks great. I am still in for one, stay over Saturday night. Is White Bluff Resort where we stay Saturday night? Do I need to make a reservation, or is someone going to reserve rooms for the group? Is the Dallas group going to meet somewhere Saturday morning and caravan/convoy? Where? What time? Looking forward to this, and thank you Gary and John for organizing. Larry Carlson

Larry,

I will get with Richard Rogers early next week to confirm hotel reservations and count it is still a go if weather permits. The consideration is once the reservations are made they can not be canceled.

Thanks Gary and Richard,

If things are deemed GO, I propose the Eastsiders meet at North Mesquite High School (per map) at 6:30 for a 6:45 departure to meet the Westsiders at the Jack-In-The-Box near the intersection of US-67 & TX-174 (off Marti Rd per map) at 8:00.

Things might be looking a little better weather wise, but I am still checking these two weather sites:

Folks, the weather looks "iffy" for this weekend at best. Can I throw out an idea; John S. has laid out a good trip with some fun activities and routes with the BBQ cook-off as an excuse to go. On the other hand I don't think we need a reason to drive our cars and spend some quality time with our friends. What I'm trying to say is lets put this off for another weekend when the weather looks more cooperative and when several folks who aren't available will be--your thoughts?

Out for this weekend, but want to do the trip soon.

I'm afraid if I was all-in for the trip, you all would get wet.
