Gary, why can't you use single plane, like the Edelbrock Vic Jr. Height restrictions I assume ?

I never asked about a single plane although I have had many single planes on my small block motors. Keith has built so many of these with big HP and this seems to be the intake he likes to use. I would agree that height of the motor is always a concern in a Cobra so that might be another consideration.

I may be mistaking, and don't want my words to be placed in Keith's mouth.

First, the dual will fit under most or all cobras hoods.

Second, the reason he may use the dual, is a lot of cobra owners may not need the high rpm advantage of a single plane. The Edelbrock RPM has a broad TQ/HP curve, especially down in the lower rpm range.

I have to plane of apx. 3/8" to 1/2" of the carb surface on the Victor, to fit under my hood. I asked Keith & other engine builders if that would hurt performance, and they doubt it. And in a cobra, you wouldn't feel,... the difference anyway.

I figured that I have all the low TQ that I need, and more,...down low so, I opted to increase the power up top. It's not for everyone though.

By the way, beautiful cobra you have.

Gary unless it has been fixed & mine is a 2005 or 06 model but 2nd to 3rd is Impossible with higher RPM's , I just switched to Ultra Shift trans fluids that is suppose to help but this fix may be my winter project as well.
Fix it while it's EASY !
If you google it you will have plenty to read !

Talked to Rob at C&S Perf and he said the TKO600 2nd to 3rd shift was a concern a couple years ago but Tremac put a fix in that modified the rail which cured the problem. As far as the dual plane vs single plane Rob said it's the height of the single plane that is the issue in Cobras.

I did find this on Edelbrock's site however;

VICTOR FE (4000-8000 rpm)
Designed for high performance 390-406-410-427-428 c.i.d. Ford FE engines. The singleplane design provides race-winning power for many types of competition. Carb flange height is equal to the Ford high-riser manifold #C4AE-9424-G to fit under 427 Cobra hoods. Runners have plenty of material for port matching to low- or medium-riser style heads. Machined rear breather boss is included with an unmachined nitrous bosses and front oil fill tube boss. Will not fit 427 high-riser and tunnel-port heads. Match with our FE heads. Victor FE also available with injector bosses.
